Short bio: Denita Willoughby is a proven leader in business and in the local community. As Vice President of Supply Management, Denita oversees SoCalGas and San Diego Gas & Electric procurement activities where she manages supplier relationships with over $2.4 billion in expenditures and $41 million in inventory.
Prior to joining SoCalGas, Willoughby was with AT&T for more than 15 years, where she served as Vice President of External Affairs, leading the company’s local government and community affairs in the Greater Los Angeles area. Willoughby has been named by California Diversity Magazine as one of “The Most Powerful and Influential Women in California.” She serves on the boards of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, UNITE LA, and Vision to Learn. She is an advocate for educational initiatives and enjoys mentoring young professionals.

Calling all lovers of all things Fall THIS IS THE EVENT FOR YOU!!!
HFES will be heading out to a pumpkin patch to get in the Fall spirit with some hay rides, corn mazes and OF COURSE pumpkin picking!! The cost is $10/person, pay at the door of the farm.
The plan is to meet at the Mechanical Engineering Building at 1:30 PM. From there we will have designated drivers, that we will assign prior to the event, drive everyone to Schuster’s Farm.

Join us for an informal question and answer discussion with Dr. Robert Proctor on Thursday, Oct 22nd at 2pm in ME 2270!
He is a professor of Cognitive Psychology at Purdue University and conducts research on the human aspects of cybersecurity. He is also an active supporter of the Purdue HFES student chapter. We will meet in ME 2270 at 2pm. Greenbush donuts, bagels and coffee will be served.
Dr. Proctor will also be giving a talk on his research at 1pm in the Gordon Dining and Event Center.
Join us this Friday, Oct. 9th for our annual bowling social! We will be bowling at Union South from 3:30-5pm. Costs for bowling and shoe rentals will be covered by the chapter.
The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society student chapter is having their lunch kick-off meeting on Friday, September 18th, at 12:45 in the Mechanical Engineering Building, room 2065. There will be food, games, and you will learn more about the chapter and our activities planned for this year. Following the kick-off meeting, there will be a speaker event at 1:30 with Rupa Valdez, an assistant professor at the University of Virginia who will discuss her work in human factors in healthcare.
